Cakes by Rachel
+9Custom designed and individually crafted wedding cakes, made from all natural ingredients and eggs from our hens. I have been honored to be part of the Charlottesville food fabric since 1993, working as a chef, caterer, baker, barista, and farmer. Now I am using my experience and knowledge of our area, its venues, farms, and resources to create one of a kind, delicious desserts. I love creating one of a kinds and the classics equally! Each component is made from scratch in our kitchen for your cake. Our recipes start with fresh butter, flour, eggs, cream and sugar. I use Callebaut chocolate, fine liqueurs, fresh nuts, and local fruit. All eggs are from local farms, many from my own hens. As a chef, my goal is for your cake to be among the best you've ever eaten.

Rachel is the best. So many of our guests have told us it was the best cake they’ve ever had, not just at a wedding but in general. The cake tasting/design appointment was one of our favorite parts of wedding planning. Rachel is so talented, creative, and (importantly) thoughtful about budget. Would absolutely recommend!
Rachel and her team were wonderful to work with as we planned the wedding cake and dessert offerings for my daughter’s wedding. There were so many delicious flavor options to choose from! Her team was talented, dependable, responsive, patient, considerate, kind, organized, and very helpful as we worked through many scenarios. Grace, in particular, promptly responded to each inquiry and gave wonderful advice. Once we made our selections, we were treated to an afternoon tasting that was so much fun and delicious! One of the highlights of wedding planning! Rachel grasped my daughter’s vision of design for the cake also by incorporating the lace detail of her dress. The cake was as beautiful as it was delicious. Everything was superb including the dessert bar offerings of chocolate bourbon pecan bars, key lime cheesecakes, and gluten free brownies! Rachel and Grace also provided beautiful cake and dessert stands for everything. This was a wonderful service that we appreciated very much. We thoroughly enjoyed working with Rachel and her talented team and I highly recommend them!

Our experience with Cakes by Rachel was absolutely seamless from start to finish! They were incredibly responsive, friendly, and professional throughout the entire process. We worked closely with Cakes by Rachel to develop the perfect flavors for our wedding cake. Since their on-site tastings were fully booked, we ordered a tasting package to try the flavors at home, which was a great experience. Once we narrowed down our choices, Rachel scheduled a FaceTime call to finalize the vision for our cake. She absolutely nailed it—it was everything we had hoped for and more! We loved their desserts so much that we also ordered lavender shortbread cookies, bourbon pecan brownies, and cupcakes inspired by the cake flavors. Every single treat was a huge hit with our guests, and by the end of the night, almost everything was gone! Rachel personally delivered the cake, adding a lovely, personal touch to the service. We wholeheartedly recommend Cakes by Rachel to anyone looking for incredible cakes and desserts for their special event. They went above and beyond to make our day extra sweet and memorable!
