+9Sweeney Barn is a rustic yet elegant wedding venue in Manassas, Virginia. This newly restored barn and outdoor venue is perfect for couples looking for a unique and sophisticated venue. Sweeney Barn was first constructed in the early 20th century and has retained all of the character and charm of the time. Sweeney Barn was constructed in 1939 by a family of dairy farmers in Manassas. It was originally a one-story dairy barn with a hayloft, where the Birkett family stabled their livestock. The barn was eventually abandoned until Alannah and Noel Sweeney purchased the property and decided to restore it to its former glory and turn it into an elegant venue. Facilities and Capacity Sweeney Barn has both indoor and outdoor facilities, with the capacity to host up to 200 guests for a seated banquet with a dance floor. The barn is easily accessible for guests of differing abilities and is climate-controlled inside for everyone's comfort. The lower level has an open floor plan which can accommodate ceremonies or cocktail hours. The upper level consists of a grand ballroom for the reception and a get-ready-suite for wedding preparations. Services Offered Sweeney Barn may be a historical building, but it is easily accessible and fully equipped with modern amenities. You will have up to ten hours of access to the facilities - three hours for set-up, six hours for guests, and one hour for clean-up.

My now-husband and I discovered this venue through Taste of Elegance catering (who we also ended up using for our wedding) and it was such a miracle that we did! We had toured several venues and none of them were quite right. When we saw Sweeney Barn, we knew almost instantly that it was perfect! The venue is beautiful and most other venues of this style are at least an hour out west, far from airports and hotels. Andrea is very helpful and responsive to emails. She was very helpful in getting us chairs for our reception as well! Our ceremony was at church, so we used the downstairs room for cocktail hour. It was a lovely August day and we were able to put out the lawn games that they have available! We had around 100 guests and there was plenty of room to move around while the DJ helped my family with a live music performance. The remainder of our reception was upstairs and we were able to make room for a buffet, manned pasta station, full bar, dessert table, and photobooth all while having plenty of room for 13 guest tables and a dance floor! The room is large, but the arched ceilings and low chandeliers make it feel very cozy as well. We happily made use of their available tables and round arch. Our photographer was able to capture many great photos in the beautiful spiral staircase as well as outside during our sunset photos. I hope to come back for another event someday!
Sweeney Barn was undoubtedly the best decision we made in terms of wedding vendors. Sweeney Barn is a stunning venue, offering versatility with its three event spaces (upstairs, downstairs, and outside). Andrea, Sweeney’s GM, always, without fail provided prompt responses and was incredibly organized throughout our year-long planning process. Andrea always replied to my emails quickly with clear, logical solutions, putting me at ease. Our day-of representative, Kathy, was also exceptional. When my bustle malfunctioned, she quickly devised a solution that was seamless. Kathy was actively involved in the setup and takedown, and she was the person who did our initial walk-through (before we selected a venue), which convinced us to choose Sweeney Barn. Understanding pricing and what's included can be challenging, but Kathy provided just the right amount of detail during our walk-through, ensuring we felt informed without being overwhelmed. This was a major selling point. I am truly grateful to Sweeney and the team for making our wedding so special. Their partnership was invaluable, and I cannot recommend Sweeney Barn enough. We feel incredibly fortunate to have been married in such a beautiful and unique location with a truly rockstar team of professionals. We absolutely loved Sweeney Barn as our wedding venue! The space was stunning, with bright, natural lighting in the ceremony area that made everything feel warm and inviting. One of our favorite features was the ability to have an outdoor cocktail hour during golden hour—it created such a beautiful and magical atmosphere. The grand reception space, with its gorgeous chandeliers, added an elegant touch, and there were so many versatile areas for guests to explore, including an outdoor space perfect for stepping out for fresh air or enjoying a cigar. Sweeney Barn truly had everything we wanted for a perfect wedding. Andrea, in particular, was incredible to work with—she made the whole planning process seamless. We also worked with many of their preferred vendors, all of whom provided top-notch service and high-quality products. It was a dream come true, and we can’t recommend this venue enough!
My husband and I absolutely LOVE SWEENEY BARN! Planning a wedding involves so many details and the Sweeny Barn team continually knocks it out of the park. Everyone is meticulous about planning your special day and ensuring your vision comes to life. Andrea, the general manager, is well-organized and is efficient in answering questions/providing feedback. Similarly, Kathy is also a rockstar that agreed to perform the day-of coordination for us and ensured our event ended on time. The entire Sweeney Barn team is fantastic and partners with other wonderful vendors. Definitely a top tier choice for your wedding!
