When to book in Anchorage

Alaska's wedding season is June through August, and it's short enough that every good Saturday in it is contested, so book the venue 12 to 14 months ahead and photographers nearly as early; the local pool is small and the best ones also shoot Denali and the Kenai all summer. Solstice weekend in June goes first. By early September termination dust shows on the Chugach and the birches turn gold for about two weeks, but the State Fair in Palmer fills Mat-Su hotels over Labor Day. Winter is dark by mid-afternoon and cold, but the aurora and Fur Rendezvous in late February draw couples who want it.
