Common House is a modern social club and event venue, located on Charlottesville’s Downtown Mall, that provides the perfect backdrop for rehearsal dinners, welcome parties, and weddings alike. The venue boasts a colorful design, with particular attention dedicated to crafted food and beverages. When booking with Common House, couples have access to the full-service catering for both seated and reception events, waitstaff, a sommelier, full bar services, custom-built tables, chairs, glassware, and flatware. The main event space at Common House, Vinegar Hall, is a banquet-style hall that features large windows and an artistic design. Depending on the layout, the space can accommodate up to 70 people seated, or up to 100 people for a cocktail-style reception, providing the perfect rehearsal dinner to welcome party celebration. Looking to host a large celebration? Common House also offers full house parties, accommodating up to 200 guests and giving couples 3 floors (including the rooftop!) for a private celebration. For each event, the culinary team, led by Chef de Cuisine Laura Fonner, will create a menu for the occasion, sourcing fresh, seasonal ingredients. Serving styles can accommodate family-style as well as servers for a cocktail reception with hors d’oeuvres. Our team will work with each couple to create a menu that suits all dietary restrictions, including gluten-free, lactose-free, no pork, nut-free, vegan, and vegetarian. Couples are welcome to provide their own outside cake from a favorite bakery.
