When to book in Salt Lake City

June and September through early October are the peak, when the valley is warm and the canyons are green or turning gold, and canyon lodges book those Saturdays 12 months ahead. Utah couples book weekdays more than almost anywhere else, which opens Thursday and Friday dates at better rates. Avoid Pioneer Day on July 24, a state holiday when many vendors are off, and watch University of Utah and BYU home games, which fill hotels on fall Saturdays. Winter dates are affordable, but the January inversion flattens outdoor photos.
