When to book in Berkshires

The Berkshires have two peaks. Summer, from late June through August, is the arts season, when concert and theater weekends fill inns from Lenox to Williamstown and room blocks need to be locked a year out. Fall, from late September into mid-October, is foliage, and the first two weekends of October are the most contested wedding dates in the county. Book either 12 to 14 months ahead. Late spring is green and quieter, with lilacs in May, and winter brings skiing and low venue fees but a long drive over snowy roads for Boston guests. Mud season in April is best skipped for barns.
